Sue is available for face-to-face and online psychology counselling

Learn a different approach to working with your thoughts and feelings, manage stress better, and enjoy your experiences more fully. Individual counselling with Sue involves helping you to think more effectively, manage stress better, and move toward what is important in your life. Skills training in mindfulness and acceptance facilitate better confidence, enhanced performance, and greater resilience to stress and negativity. The focus in our sessions can be on developing action plans to help you move towards your already identified goals, or on collaboratively working out strategies to assist you in meeting your unique life’s challenges.

Psychology consultations can attract private health fund or Medicare rebates for certain conditions or situations. I am a registered provider of focused psychology strategies with Medicare’s Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative, and a registered provider for private health funds. To learn whether  a Medicare Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) is applicable to your situation, speak to your GP. With a MHCP, you are eligible for 10 psychology sessions per year.  Rebates are  available for both face-to-face and telehealth (online) psychology counselling sessions.  

My counselling work draws on several psychological approaches, including Flow, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness, Cognitive Behaviour Therapy, and iRest yoga nidra™. These are evidence-based approaches that have been demonstrated to be effective for a range of clinical conditions and life challenges.

Individual counselling sessions focus on helping you reach your full potential and improve the way you respond to stress. I bring strong listening skills to counselling sessions, to facilitate understanding you, and what you want.  I will work with you on developing individually-appropriate strategies to achieve your specific goals.

I am available for counselling at Lilley Place Indooroopilly, and by appointment from Bardon. I am also available for Telehealth (online consultations) via Zoom, or telephone.

in   Fees and Rebates

Sessions are typically 60 minutes in duration and are payable at the time of consultation. Standard fees at Bardon from March 1 are $220 for a one hour session. Different fees apply at Lilley Place and information on these can be found here:

 Extended consultations are available at Bardon for clients wishing to incorporate longer meditation or relaxation practices into their session. Ask Sue when you book if you would like an extended consultation. Additional fees apply. In 2022, Sue is also offering individual mindfulness training and walking therapy sessions, in the natural beauty of the Mt Cootha forest parks and trails.

 If you have a Mental Health Care Plan referral from your GP, a standard Medicare rebate of $88.25 is available. Alternatively, private health rebates may be available, depending on your level of extras cover.
